What you like most about your job/workplace

It’s evident that Lighthouse cares not only about its employees, but also every person that walks through the door. As someone who is passionate about both strong teams and outstanding customer experiences, this is the ideal environment. And, with 20 years of experience in the automotive field, I can draw on everything I have learned through the years to make a contribution.

Hobbies/Things you enjoy during your free time

I love photography and actually ran my own studio for over 10 years. I also love anything “techie” – give me a tablet, a smart anything or a game system and I’m good.

My family and I have recently taken up geo-caching thanks to my oldest son’s Scout den, so we spend lots of time on the weekends hiking and discovering new areas to explore.

Favorite food

I’m a meat and potatoes kind of guy, which doesn’t always fare well when my wife is in one of her “experimental cooking” moods!

Favorite Movie

I don’t know if I could pick one favorite. I like action movies – James Bond, Mission Impossible, etc.

Favorite Book

The Bible

Meet Brian Moldenhauer–Sales Consultant

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

brian0311_005

Brian was born in Milwaukee, WI in 1958. He lived in Milwaukee and Racine, WI through his high school years. He has two younger brothers and two younger sisters. Brian attended college at Concordia College in St. Paul, MN and graduated with a double major in Christian Education Ministries and Elementary Education in 1985.

After graduation from college in 1985, Brian served a church outside of Columbus, Ohio as their Director of Christian Education and Preschool Director through 1988. While in Ohio Brian met his wife, Jann. In January of 1989 Brian came here to Morton to serve as the Director of Christian Education at Bethel Lutheran Church. In December of 1989 Jann and Brian were married. In early 1990 Jann was able to secure a job transfer with her USPS letter carrier position from Ohio to the Morton Post Office. Jann and her two sons, Jason and Andy, then moved to Morton to join Brian.

In 1994 Brian transitioned to a new direction in his career path joining the sales team of Sam Leman in Eureka where he felt blessed to have a successful career as a sales consultant. Throughout most of the past ten years, Brian was the ‘Salesperson of the Year’ at Sam Leman.

In March of this year Brian joined our sales team to take advantage of the proximity to his home here in Morton as well as the inspiring work schedule here at Lighthouse Automotive. Brian says, “What impressed me the most about Lighthouse was the innovative culture that has been created here by the management team. Not only are the sales people here equipped with a wealth of interactive tools, they are empowered by the management to utilize these tools with each client. This empowerment creates a stress free buying experience for both the client and the salesperson.”

Lighthouse’s schedule of closing at 6pm Monday through Friday and 4pm on Saturday is definitely a plus for Brian. Now Brian has more time to spend with Jann in the evening. Jann and Brian enjoy running, biking and working out at Gold’s Gym here in Morton. Brian says the flexible schedule will also give Jann and him more of an opportunity to interact with their families in Ohio and Wisconsin. Brian’s step-son Jason lives in Ohio with his wife and son. Brian’s youngest step-son, Andy, now lives in South Carolina.

Brian thanks all of the employees of Lighthouse for welcoming him here and making his transition very enjoyable. Brian states: “ I am impressed with the flurry of activity throughout the dealership in sales and especially in service. Lighthouse is a great place to work!”

Name, ages of your family members, along with any details about your family you want to share

My wife Amber was raised in Fairbury, IL.  We were married in July 2003, reside in Goodfield, IL, and now have 4 wonderful children.  Jayden is almost 5 and cannot wait to start kindergarten in the fall.  He is a very consciences and detail oriented person that hates to be wrong.  Andrew is 3 and is our “wild child”.  He is always coming up with some hilarious saying or comment.  He also has a tendency to act without thinking of consequences.  Because of this, he has made more than a few trips to the hospital/doctor.  Our twin girls, Macy and Mariah, are 14 months old.  Needless to say they have added so much joy, and so much stress all at the same time.  Macy is very dramatic and emotional, and Mariah is calm, cool, and steady.  Even though we have our share of stress with a growing family, we try to enjoy every moment.

How many years at Lighthouse Automotive:  12

What do you like most about your job/workplace

The fact that every day brings new challenges and experiences.  Needless to say, the car business (especially service) is not boring!  Also, being able to work with a fantastic group of people that are team oriented and work extremely hard.  I also love the interaction and relationships I have made with our great customers.

Hobbies/things you enjoy during your free time

I don’t have much free time at this stage of life (see first question), but when I do, I love reading, computers, running, and board games.  I also enjoy spending time with family, friends, and Church activities.

Favorite food:  Pizza by far.  I have a top 10 list that changes at times, but the top 3 never do (Tobins #1, Davis Brothers #2, Mickies #3).

Favorite Movie:  Gettysburg, Ben Hur, The Great Escape, Cars.

Favorite Book:  “The Bible”, “The Killer Angels”, Anything by Clive Cussler or Jeff Shaara

Favorite Quote/piece of advice:  I have many, but one that comes to mind is from my uncle Jaye Rinkenberger.  “At any point in life, you are never as bad as you think you are, and you are never as good as you think you are“.  This quote always reminds me of the Biblical principal that we always have great worth in God’s eyes even if times are bad, but on the other hand, reminds us not to be puffed up with pride when times are good.
